Cost reduction will allow you to get cards like Karametra, God of Harvests, Reki, the History of Kamigawa, and Gandalf the White out early in order to capitalize on their ramp, draw, and synergy
Maleficent doesnt have the greatest stat line, a 2/2 for three ink, it's a great card to gum up the board with characters that will either help gather lore for you or take down other smaller and already damaged characters
